TEACHER Workshops

I loved the “reframe” and “release” perspectives. I totally needed that reminder that I am in control of how I react to stress. I also appreciated seeing the brain explained to me, and how the amygdala with its emotion and stress can override a perfectly reasonable person’s prefrontal cortex at times.

Why Can’t I Focus?
Stress is to blame, but you can fix it

Stress is tricky; it sneaks in and steals our ability to focus and connect with others. When you're a teacher or school staff member, you work with a large number of students, and a lack of focus can be a big problem. In this workshop, you'll learn how to become mindfully aware of your stress level. From there, we'll show you some exercises you can do and habit changes you can make to help decrease the stress in your life. When you reduce your stress load, you’ll find your ability to focus naturally increases.

Managing Stress, Anxiety and Compassion Fatigue
A four-step system for handling and managing stress

Stress is a driving force in schools today, and it is careening us into chronic health issues, decreased mental health and overall unhappiness. Understanding how stress works in the brain and the key habitual changes we can make based on our neurology lead us to better, more mindful ways of dealing with and managing stress that create lasting change. In this workshop, we’ll walk through a four-step process you can immediately implement to manage your stress, in and out of the classroom.

PARENTING WORKSHOPS

Thank you Erin for the workshop! I walked away from every one with multiple tips as to how I can improve the quality of life for myself/my children/teachers/family/friends/etc. I learned facts (I have a data-driven personality, so this was important to me) explaining why behaviors were occurring, what impact it has long term, who it affects (spoiler: every one of us, directly and indirectly), how to change current and future behaviors, and who can support me throughout the process. Your presentation was engaging and informative; the resources on your webpage are plentiful and very helpful; and the immediate home results after implementing her suggestions were heart-warming.

How Kindness and Gratitude Build Strong Brains

Are you tired of telling your kids to be nice or be thankful only to turn around and witness unkindness or constant desire for worldly things? We all want nice kids who say please and thank you, but we also need kids who recognize and feel those feelings, not just pay them lip service to please a parent or teacher. In this workshop, we'll talk about how kindness and gratitude build brains and how we can use our brains to boost more kindness and gratitude, making them the foundation of your child's happiness and mental well-being for a lifetime.

Raising Resilient Kids

Kids aren't thriving right now. It’s all over the news. In fact, the entire framework of our modern culture discourages resilience. But if you want kids who turn into teens and adults who can handle the pressure and be successful, you need to work on resiliency when they're kids. In this workshop, we will explore how to help build a resilient brain that leads to mentally strong kids. We'll also touch on how you can become a resilient parent. Resilient kids are happier, more confident, bounce back faster and see life’s challenges as adventures, not roadblocks.

How Stress Affects Families and What We Can Do About It

When you look at recent statistics, stress rates are impacting family connections and parenting choices. So how do you raise kids who aren’t stressed, especially when you feel stressed? You look at your stress first. In this workshop, we'll dive into how stress affects our mental and physical health, and we'll work through strategic plans and strategies for dealing with stress in your homes. When you implement your plan, you'll find the security your kids feel having parents on the same page will immediately increase your family connection.

Raising Responsible, Goal-Driven Kids

How do you raise self-motivated, confident kids who know how to delay gratification and grow towards a goal. Kids who get back up when and if they fail? How do you teach a strong work ethic and a willingness to pitch in even without being asked? In this workshop, we will work through what systems in the brain are put to work when it comes to responsibility and goals, and why we often don't reach our goals. We'll use this brain awareness to implement steps that help kids stay motivated and reach for their goals without being held back.

Social Media, Technology and Stress In The Brain

How do you deal with the incoming rush of technology in the home? It seems like we are all reliant on technology, but how much is too much? And what can you do when everyone else seems to be giving their kids free-range? You can’t just guess your way through this; you need a plan. In this workshop, you'll learn what happens in your child’s brain when using technology such as phones, tablets and computers for gaming and social media. We'll help you learn how to make a family plan for technology usage. Maybe you've already tried implementing a plan, but when you know how technology affects your child’s brain, sticking with one becomes much easier.

8 Brain Builders Needed To Raise A Child Who Thrives

What if someone told you that if you did eight things, your child would have a considerable advantage when it comes to living a happy, self-successful life? It's true! And in this workshop, you learn the brain science that backs up this idea and how to use that science to help your child grow. We need to help kids develop deep neurological roots so they can stand strong in any weather. When combined with mindful self-awareness, these eight brain builders will help your child grow to their fullest potential.
