What is a Book & Breathe Fundraiser?
Book & Breathe is a themed story and yoga session for kids, whether they are in their classrooms or virtually schooling at home. Along with raising funds for your school or organization, the goal of Book & Breathe is to help kids grow in their resiliency, growth mindset and goal setting.
Who Benefits From a Book & Breathe Fundraiser?
Book & Breathe is 100% digital and can be implemented in groups that are in a physical school building, distance-learning environment or a hybrid model, depending on the COVID numbers. Any school or organization focused on kids or families can execute a Book & Breathe fundraiser.
What to Expect?
Though the Book & Breathe fundraiser is a single-day fundraising event, the kids in your school will get a social-emotional learning boost in the days and weeks before and after the event. This year’s theme is Reaching for the Stars.
Prior to the fundraiser, families will be raising lump-sum funds for your school or organization. During the fundraising portion, kids and their families will work through provided parenting tips and activity worksheets based on goal setting. Teachers and school staff will do the same so that those interacting with students at home and at school will be focused on the same goal-setting message.
On the day of Book & Breathe, the kids in your school will listen to a lively read-aloud of Mae Among the Stars by Roda Ahmed. From there, they will move into an approximately 20-minute fun, creative activity, perfect for everyone, no matter the ability level.
Miss Erin will lead students through mindful movement as they grow a growth mindset by helping stars Resilience, Perseverance and Optimism find their way back to the Growth Mindset Galaxy. Kids learn the key components of growing grit and growth mindset while mindfully moving through an out-of-this-world adventure as together they strive to do their best even when faced with challenges and adversity.
After the fundraiser, they will solidify what they’ve learned with additional printable activities to do with their family and teachers. Kids will finish collecting funds and turn them in online or in person.
How Does Book & Breathe Work?
Your school or organization will pick a date to host your Book & Breathe fundraiser. In the weeks beforehand, your students will raise funds by asking friends, family and neighbors to make a donation to your school as a way to acknowledge the effort, growth mindset and resiliency boost they’ll get by participating in Book & Breathe. You’ll work with Fundraising101.com, which will provide your organization with all the information you need to plan, organize and execute your volunteer-led fundraiser. You’ll get:
